Within the huge SM Megamall, there’s a curious coffeeshop that appears to cater to bloggers and other fond users of notebooks and laptops who all happen to always need two things: good coffee and power outlets.

The place is called Blenz Coffee.

Andrew Matthews, author of the popular self-help and inspirational books “Being Happy”, “Follow Your Heart” and “Happiness Now”, was in Manila last week, treating his fans to a talk and book-signing session at the National Bookstore branch at Glorietta 5.

SmartBro gives away 10,000 UAAP-NCAA USB dongles

SmartBro last weekend held its B Free! Day event at the Mega Tent in Pasig City, enticing students from member-schools of NCAA and the UAAP to get free SmartBro USB dongles just by submitting their validated school IDs and a photocopies of them.

The specially-designed ZTE MF627 dongles bore logos and insignia of the NCAA and UAAP schools, their mascots and the name of their teams.

Top officials of Asus took pride in explaining the main features of their new motherboards — Intel P55 Express chipset and support for the latest LGA 1156 socket for Intel Core i7/Core i5 processors — as well as its Hybrid Technology composed of Hybrid Processor, Hybrid Phase, and Hybrid OS. Free WIFI at SM City Manila

Free WIFI is now available to all mall-goers, shoppers and diners in SM City Manila.

The free WIFI service was launched Aug. 31 with bloggers trying out and testing the really fast and really free internet service. No passwords needed!  SM City Manila thus has joined other SM Supermalls in Metro Manila and elsewhere which offer free WIFI. Continue reading

New York, New York!

As soon as I found out I was really going to the US last June, I made a pledge to myself that I’d find a way to fly from the West Coast to the East Coast.

And so a week after arriving in Los Angeles and soon after the conference I attended there, I started to go my way to the city that never sleeps and I was not disappointed. Special mention to Berns and Gary who took care of me when I was there.

Dateline: Los Angeles

I arrived in Los Angeles on June 1 but wasn’t able to go around until days later. My uncle whisked me away to San Diego, that’s why.

Los Angeles is home to the University of Southern California and its Annenberg School of Communication where the Beyond Broadcast 2009 conference was held from June 3 to 5. I spoke at the opening plenary session, sharing the Philippine experience on mobile activism. Continue reading
